Teachers work hard and often feel underappreciated. Teachers may make more money doing something else with their degree. Teachers have reams of paperwork and records to keep up. Why then would anyone become a teacher? Fortunately, the great reasons to become a teacher far outweigh the negative aspects of the profession. And becoming a teacher requires dedication, a strong academic background, a sense of humor and a genuine love of children. Bachelor’s degrees are required for teaching positions and you’ll need a solid academic background and good entrance examination scores to be accepted to a university or college teaching program. You’ll find plenty of volunteer and paid positions that will allow you to work with children and give you a good idea if teaching is the right career for you.Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said with the invention of the printing press, radio, and television. All of these can be used inappropriately, but all of them have given humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. Appropriately used-- interactively and with guidance-- they have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills. Inappropriately used in the classroom, technology can be used to perpetuate old models of teaching and learning. Teachers can use multimedia technology to give more colorful, stimulating lectures and we all know for a fact that technology today is a great help to the business minded people as well as to the students, teachers and future teachers.
I have interviewed one of the student at SPUP who is having her practicum outside campus.I started the interview asking "who you want to be?", she said "I want to become a teacher".
